Should I take Loperamide every time I get diarrhea ?

It's a very common question among people. Some people suggest that you should not wait for a single second in case you are ill. Some people are so fond of medicines that they take it every now and then. Some people carry medicines along with them always wherever they go even if it is not required. In case of diarrhea people have such belief that they should take loperamide. But it is not so true.Loperamide just stops your peristalsis movement of the intestine.

There are many reasons for diarrhea

  • Infection
  • Indigestion
  • In case of malignancy
  • Parasite infection
  • Drug induced
Infections are of various type so without sure sign of any specific symptoms you should not take medications.

So in case of diarrhea one thing that you can do for sure is to take lots and lots of water because in diarrhea there is loss of water that leads to dehydration.Lots of water intake will fill this loss of water. So my advice for you guys is that not to take loperamide every time you get diarrhea.Even anti-biotics which you might have used during previous attack should be taken only after your doctors advice.
